There were more casualties in the Battle of Gettysburg than in any other battle waged on North American soil. The Battle of Gettysburg raged from July 1-3, 1863 and in the end it is estimated that more than 51,000 Union and Confederate soldiers were killed, wounded or captured at the site which now commemorates the Battle of Gettysburg, Gettysburg National Military Park.[Top]
